Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Got questions? We have answers.

🍵 1. About Our Products (Product Knowledge)

A: There is a significant difference. Xinhui Chenpi is made exclusively from the Citrus reticulata ‘Chachi’ mandarin, grown only in the core region of Xinhui, Guangdong. Due to the unique local terroir (water and soil), Xinhui Chenpi is rich in volatile oils and flavonoids. Unlike ordinary peels that may spoil, Xinhui Chenpi ages like fine wine—becoming more fragrant and valuable over time.

A: Xiao Qing Gan is a unique tea innovation. We harvest the Xinhui mandarin when it is still young and green (rich in citrus oil), hollow it out by hand, and stuff it with premium aged Pu-erh tea. It is then sun-dried. The result is a perfect balance: the bright, zesty aroma of the citrus meets the mellow, earthy depth of the Pu-erh tea.

A: We strictly adhere to traditional Sun-Drying. While machine drying is faster and cheaper, it kills the active enzymes in the peel. Sun-drying preserves these enzymes, allowing the Chenpi to continue “aging” and transforming over the years. This is the secret to its medicinal value and complex aroma.

A: Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong odors. Our products are “living” teas that continue to age. You can store them in the original packaging or in a ceramic/glass jar.

🛡️ 2. Quality & Safety (The Trust Factor)

A: Yes, absolutely. We understand that safety is your top priority. Every batch of our products undergoes rigorous testing by third-party laboratories. We are proud to certify that our products fully comply with EU Maximum Residue Limits (MRL) for pesticides. We provide clean, pure tea with no sulfur fumigation.

A: OUDA Tea has been deeply rooted in Xinhui since 1996. We own our storage facilities where peels are naturally aged. The color of the peel darkens naturally over time (from yellowish-brown to dark brown/black), and the texture becomes lighter and more brittle. We guarantee the authenticity of every vintage we sell.

🍵 4. Brewing & Usage

A: There are two ways:

  1. Whole Fruit (Recommended): Remove the lid, place the whole fruit into a teapot or gaiwan, and pour boiling water directly onto the tea opening. This releases the flavor slowly.

  2. Crushed: Crush the peel and tea together before brewing for a stronger, immediate flavor.

A: Absolutely! Aged Chenpi is a Michelin-star ingredient. You can add a small piece to soups (especially red bean soup), stews, or meat dishes. It cuts through grease and adds a sophisticated aromatic layer to the food.
